VCU Health is included in a recently released list from Becker's Hospital Review of 48 health care systems with strong operational metrics and solid financial positions, according to reports from credit rating agencies Fitch Ratings and Moody's Investors Service released in 2024.
VCU Health received an 'Aa3' rating from Moody’s review, which assesses health systems across the nation to identify growing, high-quality hospitals with a strong financial portfolio. According to the report, the credit rating “reflects the Richmond, Va.-based system's status as one of Virginia's leading academic medical centers and essential role as its largest safety net provider, supporting excellent patient demand at high-acuity levels.”
The ranking sends a clear message to financial lenders: VCU Health is in strong financial standing and has the potential to grow.
"This is a testament to our team members' unending commitment to providing the highest level of care to each and every patient," said Marlon Levy, M.D., interim CEO of VCU Health and interim vice president of VCU Health Sciences. “Our credit is strong at the bank, and our reputation is strong in the community. We are eternally grateful for both.”
A high rating is an indicator of a strong market presence, unique service offerings and strong management teams. Additionally, receiving recognition from one of the leading medical industry magazines highlights that patients and their families who turn to VCU Health can trust us to provide exceptional care in a variety of specialized fields.
